Devotees flock for the final holy dip as maha Kumbh marks the grand culmination today.

Loads of thousands of devotees began collecting on the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj for a holy dip on Mahashivratri, as the six-week-long maha Kumbh Mela—held once every 12 years and believed to grant 'moksha'—is ready to conclude on Wednesday.

Mahashivratri marks the divine union of lord shiva and Goddess Parvati and holds profound significance within the context of the Kumbh Mela.

In keeping with Hindu mythology, lord shiva performed a pivotal position within the Samudra Manthan (churning of the sea), which brought about the emergence of the Amrit Kumbh (nectar pitcher)—the very essence of the Kumbh Mela.

The event draws massive crowds of devotees to the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati, revered as a holy website online by Hindus.

On Tuesday, an estimated 1.33 crore devotees took a holy dip at the Sangam and different ghats within the mela location, pushing the overall footfall for the maha Kumbh 2025 beyond sixty-four crore, in keeping with the Uttar Pradesh government.

The maha Kumbh has witnessed six special bathing dates: Paush Purnima (January 13), makar sankranti (January 14), Mauni Amavasya (January 29), Basant Panchami (February 3), Maghi Purnima (February 12), and Mahashivratri (February 26), including 3 'Amrit Snan.'.

Pilgrims from throughout the united states had been making their way to Prayagraj to participate in the final 'snan.'.

Safety personnel remained on high alert via the night, carefully monitoring the swelling crowds at Mahakumbh nagar and the ghats.

Railway stations, roads, and entry points to the city witnessed a consistent influx of devotees. Law enforcement organizations, which include police, paramilitary forces, and disaster reaction teams, have been deployed in huge numbers to manage the large accumulation, making sure of crowd control, protection, and logistical coordination.

Surveillance drones, CCTV monitoring with AI-enabled cameras, and command centers had been installed to supervise real-time traits. Scientific teams and emergency reaction devices had been stationed at strategic points, with catastrophe management forces on standby.

Given the dimensions of the event and the sheer volume of attendees, authorities have enforced a "no vehicle zone" inside the mela place and Prayagraj, except for imposing strict crowd manipulation measures and logistical support to facilitate a seamless fruits of maha Kumbh 2025.

To manipulate the heavy rush of departing pilgrims, the North Japanese Railway (NER) has deployed additional trains and strengthened security at key stations. NER CPRO Pankaj Kumar Singh stated 60 trains, along with ordinary, ring rail, long-distance, and unique mela trains, operated until 4 pm on february 25, with 25 extra unique trains walking on Mahashivratri.

Security has been reinforced with 850 RPF employees and 290 commercial workers at Jhusi station, while Prayagraj Rambagh has 500 RPF employees and 250 business staff on duty.

Mega mics are getting used at these stations to guide passengers, and further rakes were stationed at key locations to accommodate the post-Mahashivratri rush.
