Importance of Mahashivratri

Mahashivratri is a major festival in Hinduism, which is celebrated in memory of the marriage of lord shiva and Mother Parvati. It is celebrated on the Chaturdashi of krishna Paksha of Falgun month. On this day, devotees observe fast, perform Jalabhishek of lord shiva and stay awake all night and sing bhajans and kirtans.
