Holi is one of the many big festivals of the country. This year holi will be celebrated with great pomp on march 14, 2025. people have started preparing for it. Now the question in the minds of the people associated with the stock market is whether there will be work in the stock market on holi or not? Although the stock market is open from monday to friday and this time holi is on Friday.

It is worth noting for investors and traders that on the day of holi, there will be no work related to the purchase and sale of shares in the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). That is, the stock market will remain closed. During this time all trading activities including equity, equity derivatives and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) segment will remain closed. After this the stock market will open again on monday, march 17, 2025.

Holi in the stock market in march and April

Apart from holi, the stock market will remain closed on one more day in the month of March. There will be no work in the stock market on monday, march 31, 2025 due to Eid-ul-Fitr (Ramadan Eid). Next month in april, the market will be closed on Thursday, april 10, 2025 due to Shri Mahavir Jayanti.

After that, there will be a holiday on monday, april 14, 2025 for Dr. baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti and friday, april 18, 2025 for Good Friday. However, investors in commodities and currency trading should check the holidays related to Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) and National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) as trading hours may vary for them.

Banks will remain closed for so many days on Holi

Banks will also remain closed in many states on Holi. Apart from this, there will also be a holiday on the second saturday (March 15) and sunday (March 16). In some states, Holika Dahan holiday is given on march 13. In such a situation, banks will remain closed for four consecutive days from march 13 to 16. In some big cities like Delhi, mumbai, chennai and Bangalore, banks will remain closed on 15 and 16 march (Saturday and Sunday). Whereas in cities like Kolkata, Ahmedabad, lucknow and Jaipur, banks will remain closed from 14 to 16 march (Friday to Sunday). However, during this time customers will be able to use online banking, ATM and mobile banking.
