Holi should be stopped…, Darbhanga Mayor's big statement?

A strange statement has come from Bihar's Darbhanga Mayor Anjum Ara regarding playing Holi. A peace committee meeting was called by the district administration in Darbhanga on tuesday (March 11, 2025) in view of Holi. After coming out of the meeting, while talking to the media, Darbhanga Mayor Anjum Ara said that playing holi should be banned between 12.30 pm and 2 pm. She has given this statement regarding Juma.

Anjum Ara said, "Nobody wants to fight. There are 2-4 anti-social elements due to whom all these things happen, so I want to tell the people of Darbhanga that wherever you feel the need, take the help of the administration so that no accident can happen."

The media asked the mayor of Darbhanga that Ramadan is going on and holi is also friday, what solution have you come up with, has there been any discussion? On this, she said that we have come up with the solution that holi should be stopped from 12.30 pm to 2 pm. There should be a ban on playing holi for one and a half hours in between. The time of friday cannot be extended.

Mayor Anjum Ara said that all people will be requested to organize holi program by keeping distance from mosques and wherever people go to offer namaz from 12.30 pm to 2 pm. She said that the district administration has been appealed to be extra cautious around mosques and prayer places.

'Muslims should not go out on Holi'

The statement of the mayor of Darbhanga has come at a time when recently bjp mla Haribhushan Thakur has advised Muslims not to go out of the house on Holi. He has said that there are 52 Fridays in a year while holi comes only on one day. Therefore, Muslims should not go out of their houses on Holi. If they have a big heart and do not feel bad even if they get smeared with colours, then only they should go out of their houses.
