Is there a mention of Lord Ram's Shobha yatra in Ramayana?
Every year on ram Navami, we all see Shobha yatra everywhere but is it mentioned in Ramayana? You get the answer to this in anand Ramayana (Manohar Kand Sarg No. 10, Shloka No. 104-139).
According to anand Ramayana, on the Pratipada of Samvatsara, flags decorated with divine clothes and garlands etc. should be installed on the house in every house to indicate the birth of ram and to please ram and worship him with devotion. Sandalwood water should be sprinkled in the house, temple, cowshed and Tulsi garden on those days. After this, lotus etc. should be made from stone powder.
Make a very beautiful picture pavilion. Make four doors in that pavilion and install arches at various places. Place banana pillars and sugarcane sticks here and there. Put various types of bells and chikinis etc. in it, whose sweet sound can be heard. Put beautiful and big mirrors here and there, put various types of pictures. Create a golden or gem-studded platform in it and spread nice and beautiful beds on it.
Then install a golden idol on it. This idol of Ramchandraji should be marked with all the good qualities. Perform worship daily according to your capability. Play instruments like Bheri, Mridang, Tudhi etc. in front of him and dance and sing. Perform worship with various types of offerings and remedies.
In this way, worship Lord ram seated on a vehicle during Navratri, especially on the ninth day, and adorn him with various types of enthusiasm like the deep sounds of Bheri, Mridang, Tudhi, Dundubhi, etc., dance of courtesans, singing of singers, etc., adorned with a beautiful umbrella, decorated with a fan, take Lord Ramchandra seated on Pushpak Viman to Ramtirtha and bathe him with pots of Panchamrit and holy water.
While bathing, recite Rudra Sukta, vishnu Sukta or Sahasranaamavali. Mix various types of auspicious substances in the water beforehand. Bathing with water mixed with auspicious substances in this way is called Mangalsnan. This is done in Chaitra month and such an opportunity is obtained with great difficulty. Pour the Panchamrit of that bath in a vessel and all the people who participated in the Puja should go to that Tirtha and take a bath (Ramnavami Shobha Yatra).
Only then does a person get the fruit of Mangalsnan. The fruit that is obtained by taking bath in the Tirthas of Pushkar etc. and rivers like ganga etc., the same fruit is obtained by the one who takes Mangalsnan. In this way, after bathing ram along with Sita, worship them and then bring them to your home with the aforementioned pomp and show (Ramnavami Shobha Yatra). Bring ram home and worship him. Spend the day celebrating various types of festivals and stay awake the whole night.
