What is the Story of ram Navami?
Ram Navami is a Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Rama, the seventh avatar of Vishnu. According to the epic Ramayana, Lord Rama was born on the ninth day (Navami) of the Chaitra month to king Dasharatha and queen Kaushalya in Ayodhya. His birth was a divine event, meant to restore dharma (righteousness) by defeating the demon king Ravana who had terrorized the world.
King Dasharatha had no children for a long time, so he performed a sacred ritual called the Putrakameshti Yagna. From the sacrificial fire emerged a divine potion, which was given to his three queens—Kaushalya, Kaikeyi, and Sumitra. Soon after, Rama was born to Kaushalya, Bharata to Kaikeyi, and Lakshmana and Shatrughna to Sumitra, completing the royal family.
Rama grew up to be a noble and virtuous prince, known for his courage, humility, and devotion to duty. His life was marked by great trials, including a 14-year exile into the forest, the abduction of his wife Sita by Ravana, and the eventual battle in which Rama defeated Ravana with the help of his loyal devotee Hanuman and his brother Lakshmana.
Ram Navami is celebrated with joy and devotion across india and by Hindus worldwide. Temples are decorated, devotees fast and pray, and some reenact parts of the Ramayana. The day reminds people of the victory of good over evil and the importance of living a righteous life, just like Lord Rama.
