The reason was the sudden demolition of a Jain temple located in Vile Parle. Now this whole matter has taken a political and social color.
Amid this controversy, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has transferred Assistant Municipal Commissioner Navnath Ghadge, in-charge of K-East ward, with immediate effect. According to news agency PTI, this action was taken on april 16 after the Jain temple built inside the Neminath Cooperative Housing Society was allegedly demolished as an 'unauthorized structure'.

On saturday (April 19), a large number of people from the Jain community and their supporters took to the streets. According to Paresh Shah of maharashtra Gaushala Sangh, more than 20,000 people participated in this protest march, including religious gurus, minister Mangal prasad Lodha, bjp mla Parag Alwani and many other political leaders.

A delegation of protesters met with BMC officials for 2 hours and expressed their displeasure and submitted a memorandum of demands. Paresh Shah said, "The entire Jain community is hurt by the action of BMC. In this case, not only transfer, but suspension of the responsible officer is necessary."
