
Asian Games: Ancy Sojan of india wins Silver!!!

At the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Monday, Ancy Sojan took home silver in the women's long jump competition. With jumps of 6.56 metres on her third attempt and 6.63 metres on her fifth, Ancy doubled her previous best. At her sixth and last attempt, she only recorded a foul jump. The other competing Indian, Shaili Singh, came in fifth with a best attempt of 6.48m. Xiong Shiqi of china won the event with a 6.73-meter whole. Yue Nga Yan of hong kong won bronze with a personal-best leap of 6.50 metres.
In a rather thrilling finish to the race for third place, india earlier won two medals in the women's 3000m steeplechase event at the Asian Games with Parul Chaudhary taking home silver and Priti grabbing bronze. Winfred Yavi, a world champion from Bahrain, won the gold medal and broke the Asian Games record. Parul set a new personal best with a time of 9:27.63 while Yavi recorded a time of 9:18.28. Priti almost won the race against Bahrain's Getnet Mekonnen, and she also set a new personal record with a time of 9:43.32.
India now has 15 medals overall in athletics. When kiran Baliyan won bronze in the women's shot put in Hangzhou this year, she became the first track and field athlete to do so. With gold medals in the men's shot put and men's 3000m steeple chase on Sunday, Tajinderpal Singh Toor and avinash Sable gave india a small medal rush in athletics. Sable broke the Games record while Toor successfully defended his Asian Games gold medal.
