Dr. Nandita Iyer, a famous writer from Bangalore, made sensational comments that this dress designed by famous designer tarun Tahiliani is very cheap. 'Tarun Tahiliani.. I have seen sarees better than these ceremonial uniforms designed by you for Rs.200 on the streets of Mumbai. Nandita Iyer lamented, "This dress is awful with cheap polyester and ikat print ((!!!). Was it outsourced to an intern? Or was it designed in a hurry in the last 3 months? It is a grave insult to India's rich weaving culture and history." She also clarified that the comments were not disrespectful to the sportswoman wearing the designer outfit.

While for the opening ceremony of the olympics, the famous designer tarun Tahiliani designed the clothes for the indian athletes. Male athletes wear white kurta, boondi jackets decorated with orange and green naxi work. These jackets also have pockets with an 'India' inscript and Olympic logo. Sarees and blouses have been designed with a combination of three colors for women. Now the clothes are getting criticized. Comments are heard that poor clothes are sticky.
