Virat kohli and rohit sharma will be back in action for india in the forthcoming three-match ODI series against sri lanka after winning the t20 world cup in june of this year. Following the t20 world cup, both players retired from t20 Internationals and took a break. Both players participated in a recent practise session while currently in sri lanka for the ODI series. 

During the meeting, kohli noticed a small child carrying a picture of rohit sharma and the RCB player clutching the t20 world cup trophy and the national tricolour on their backs. kohli was observed approaching the fan and signing the fan's autograph. Rohit then repeated the move as he posed for a picture. After a protracted absence, both players are playing in the ODI format again. When india lost to australia in the ODI world cup final last year, Rohit made his last appearance in the format.

At an average of 54.27 and a strike rate of 125.94, the india captain amassed 597 runs in 11 innings, making him the second-highest run scorer of the tournament. In the meanwhile, kohli amassed the highest run total in the ODI world cup with 765 runs in 11 innings with a strike rate of 90.31 and an average of 95.62.
