Paris Olympics: Bad start in athletics, Anjum-Sifat could not qualify for the final, praveen Jadhav also lost


The performance of indian male and female athletes in the 20 km walking event was disappointing. On the other hand, female shooters Anjum Moudgil and Sifat Kaur also could not impress, while archer praveen Jadhav lost in the individual category.

The sixth day of the paris Olympics was a mixed one for the indian team. While shooter Swapnil Kusale won the third medal for the country, india did not have a good start in athletics and the performance of indian male and female athletes in the 20 km walking event was disappointing. On the other hand, female shooters Anjum Moudgil and Sifat Kaur also could not impress, while archer praveen Jadhav lost in the individual category.


Anjum-Sifat failed to qualify for the 3P final


Indian shooters Anjum Moudgil and Sifat Kaur Samra failed to qualify for the final of the women's 50m rifle three positions event of the paris Olympics. Anjum finished 18th and Sifat 31st. Anjum, who is participating in her second Olympics, scored 584 points in the qualification of the women's 3P event, while Sifat scored 575 points. Sifat, the defending Asian Games champion, performed poorly in the standings, scoring 93 and 94 points, which put her at the bottom.


Disappointing performance in 20 km walk


Indian players had a disappointing performance in the 20 km walk in both men's and women's categories of the paris Olympics. While Vikas Singh and Paramjeet Singh finished 30th and 37th respectively in the men's category, national record holder Akshdeep Singh withdrew from the race after six km. Vikas took one hour 22 minutes and 36 seconds, while Paramjeet crossed the finish line in 1:23:48. In the women's category, national record holder priyanka Goswami finished 41st. She clocked one hour 39 minutes and 55 seconds, which is much worse than her season's best performance of one hour 29 minutes 48 seconds.


Praveen Jadhav lost in the first round


Indian archer praveen Jadhav was knocked out of the paris Olympics with a straight set defeat against China's Cao Wenchao in the first round of the individual men's recurve event. Jadhav suffered a 0-6 (28-29 29-30 27-28) defeat in the round of 64. With Jadhav's defeat, the indian campaign in the men's individual event ended as experienced Tarundeep Rai and Dheeraj Bommadevara have already lost their knockout matches.
