Paris Olympics: After Imane Kheleif, another controversial boxer starts with victory, showers punches on the female athlete

The issue of gender eligibility is in discussion in the paris Olympics. On Thursday, Algeria's Imane Kheleif won against Italy's angela Carini in the women's 66 kg category. Carini decided to withdraw from the match just 46 seconds after the match started. She said that Kheleif's punches were so strong that she thought she would get injured. One of Kheleif's punches hit Carini's nose and she groaned in pain. Later, Kheleif was accused of being a player with male chromosomes. Kheleif was accused of having XY chromosomes in the World championship last year.

Not just Kheleif, but another player was excluded from that championship for the same reason. She is Taiwan's Lin Yu-Ting. Now Lin Yu also defeated Sitora Turdybekova of uzbekistan on a unanimous points decision in the women's 57kg category in her opening bout in Paris. However, during this time Lin Yu Ting was seen raining punches on the female boxer. However, Lin defeated Turdybekova with cunning rather than power. Used her reach to score with jabs and sidelined the Uzbek player's efforts to make the fight one-sided. Lin avoided talking to the media after the victory.

Imane and 28-year-old Lin are politically embroiled in their gender eligibility. Both Kheleif and Lin played in the 2021 tokyo Olympics without any controversy, but here they are facing controversies. After the tokyo Olympics, both of them were disqualified from the 2023 World Championships in New delhi run by the international Boxing Association (IBA) after failing to meet the eligibility criteria. However, the international Olympic Committee (IOC) has cleared the boxers to compete in the French capital, sparking outrage among the rest of the boxers and fans. The ioc has stripped the responsibility of organizing the paris Games from the IBA over financial, ethical, and operational issues.

The international Olympic Committee (IOC) stood by its decision to allow Kheleif and Lin to compete, saying that everyone competing in the women's category is following the competition eligibility rules. They are women in their passports. Kheleif's next boxing match at the paris Olympics will be against Hungary's Anna Luka Hamori. Kheleif's participation in the women's boxing competition at the paris Olympics has faced criticism from prominent figures such as author JK Rowling and Elon Musk. They have argued that athletes with male chromosomes should not compete in women's sports.
