Huang along with Zheng Si Wei continued her undefeated campaign by defeating South Korea's Kim Won Ho and Jeong Na Yun 21-8 21-11 in the mixed doubles event and won the gold medal. Wearing the gold medal around her neck, Huang reached to meet another teammate of China's badminton team, Li Yuchen. I first gave her a bouquet and then got down on one knee to propose to Huang. Seeing this, Huang became emotional. However, she accepted the marriage proposal.



Huang said that she was not expecting an engagement ring in Paris and she was completely focused on preparing for the Games. Huang said after the match, 'This proposal was a surprise for me because I was busy preparing for the Games. I am an Olympic champion and I got a marriage proposal which I did not expect. Huang said, 'I cannot express my feelings right now, which I am going through, because I am very very happy. I also got emotional because I said yes. Winning a gold medal is the honor of our journey. I was surprised by the proposal. I never expected this. I did not think about how we would celebrate.

Yuchen and his doubles partner Ou Juan Yi participated in the men's doubles event. Tokyo olympics silver medallists Yuchen and Juan Mushequil failed to make it out of the group stage after a draw. Huang and Zheng Si Wei won badminton's first gold medal at the paris Games. They dominated from start to finish against Kim Won Ho and Jeong Na Eun on Friday. They took just 41 minutes to beat the Korean pair 21-8, 21-11.


27-year-old Zheng confirmed that paris will be his last appearance at the Olympics. Zheng had travelled to the olympics with his family and he made the journey more enjoyable by capturing the gold. Zheng said- I think this could be my last olympics, and I wanted to make the most of it because the presence of family gives me a lot of strength. Apart from our family, there were a lot of fans and friends at the venue. The support they gave us was more than we could have imagined. So I am very, very grateful to them.
