Why India-Sri Lanka match is a tie but not super over..!?

The first ODI match between india and sri lanka ended in a tie. After that, many fans who watched live were waiting for the Super Over to be held. But, they were left with disappointment. After the match was tied, both teams shook hands and parted ways. No Super Over was held. What is the international Cricket Council's rule regarding this? Many people were confused. Previously Super Over has been played when one-day matches ended in a tie. But now, why is the Super Over not held only in the first ODI between india and Sri Lanka? The question has arisen.
According to the international Cricket Council's Super Over Rules, any t20 match ends in a tie and a Super Over must be played. But there is no such rule for 50-over matches. Superover rules for each series can be decided by the host country or organization of that series. No such rules have been laid down in this ODI series between india and Sri Lanka. So the match is a tie but also the match ends. That's what happened even now. Until now, in series such as the ODI world cup and Champions Trophy conducted by the international Cricket Council, only tie but super overs should be conducted for knockout matches.

It may be recalled that in the 2019 ODI world cup Final between england and New Zealand, the Super Over was played as the match was tied. Apart from this, Super Over has been conducted for only three ODIs so far. The 2019 ODI world cup Final, the 2020 ODI between zimbabwe and Pakistan, and the 2023 world cup Qualifier between west indies and the netherlands were played when the Super Over was tied.
