Arshad Nadeem: Nadeem, who won gold in the javelin throw, got a special gift from his in-laws, you will also be surprised to know

Pakistan may be rewarding its javelin throw Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem with cash prizes and other valuable awards, but his father-in-law has decided to gift him a buffalo, in keeping with rural upbringing and tradition. Mohammad Nawaz told local media in Nadeem's village on Sunday that gifting a buffalo is considered 'very valuable' and 'respectful' in his village.

Nadeem won the gold medal in the javelin throw event in paris with an Olympic record of 92.97 meters in which India's Neeraj Chopra finished second. Nawaz said, 'Nadeem is very proud of his roots and despite success, his home is still his village and he still lives with his parents and brothers.'

His father-in-law said that he has four sons and three daughters and his youngest daughter Ayesha is married to Nadeem. Nawaz said, 'When we decided to marry our daughter to Nadeem six years ago, he used to do small jobs at that time. But he was very passionate about his sport and used to practice javelin throwing continuously at home and in the fields.'

Nadeem made five legal throws, two of these attempts were of 90+ meters. Nadeem's last attempt was 91.79 meters. Nadeem had fouled on the first attempt. At the same time, he threw 88.72 meters on the third attempt, 79.40 meters on the fourth attempt, and 84.87 meters on the fifth attempt. At the same time, apart from Neeraj's second attempt (89.45 meters), all other attempts were fouls.

The journey to gold has not been easy for Arshad. He has faced many challenges. There have been many difficulties in his personal life too, but Nadeem never gave up and kept struggling. When Pakistan's National sports Board was deciding which of the seven players going to the paris Olympics to bear the expenses, it found only Arshad Nadeem and his coach worthy of doing so.
