Paris olympics 2024: indian govt spent 470 crores!!!

India started its Olympic journey in 1900 with Norman Pritchard. Then the country's first athlete won the first medal in men's 200m hurdles. Since then india has won 40 medals in 25 olympic games, including gold, silver and bronze medals. At one time, India's men's hockey team dominated the olympics, winning 11 out of 12 medals between 1928 and 1980. These included 8 gold medals, six of which were won consecutively from 1928 to 1956.

In the last tokyo olympics 2020, india won a total of 7 medals and this time 117 players were sent to Paris Olympics 2024 with the hope of doing better than that. However, india has got six medals so far. These include five bronze and one silver medal. This time there is not a single gold medal.

According to the sports Ministry, the government of india has spent Rs 470 crore for the better performance of indian players for the paris 2024 Olympic Games. This money helps in providing better training, equipment and other facilities to the players so that they can win medals for the country in the Olympics. This fund has been divided into different sports.

Odisha government's expenditure on hockey

The odisha government has been sponsoring hockey since 2018 and is also providing financial assistance. Recently, they have extended the sponsorship agreement till 2036. The most disappointing results for india in the paris olympics have come from badminton, where not a single medal could be won. Star players like PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, who were expected to win medals, could not win a single medal.
