Vinesh Phogat's medal wait continues

The decision on Vinesh Phogat's request has been postponed by the court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) once more. The sports court has requested a postponement of the issue three times in total. In the beginning, Phogat had contested her disqualification from the olympics in paris and begged to be awarded a shared silver medal in the women's 50 kg division.


In her appeal, Vinesh had first asked the CAS's ad hoc bench to overturn the IOC's disqualification, hold a new weigh-in, and permit her to play in the championship match. She did not, however, ask for immediate temporary solutions. The CAS ad hoc bench rendered its decision quickly, but it was unable to even convene with the parties before to the thursday night final. Vinesh then made it apparent in her plea that she desired a joint silver medal to be given to her and an end to her disqualification. In an interview with india Today, United World Wrestling president Nenad Lalovic stated that while he understood Vinesh, procedures had to be followed before the indian wrestler could be penalized.
