Delhi's Priyansh arya Matches Yuvraj Singh's Iconic Achievement

Delhi batter Priyansh arya made headlines on saturday at the arun jaitley Stadium by delivering a record-breaking performance alongside South delhi Superstarz captain Ayush Badoni in the ongoing DPL 2024. The pair dismantled North Delhi’s bowling attack, setting a world record with a 286-run partnership—the highest for any wicket in t20 cricket.

The partnership between Badoni and arya led to several record-breaking feats. Badoni set a new record for the most sixes in a t20 innings, hitting 19 maximums, while arya emulated Yuvraj Singh’s historic achievement by hitting six sixes in an over. During the 12th over of South Delhi’s innings, arya targeted North Delhi’s Manan Bhardwaj, scoring 36 runs in that over. He then reached his second century of the tournament, scoring 120 off 50 balls with 10 boundaries and 10 sixes.

The record-setting stand helped South delhi post 308 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs, marking the second-highest total in t20 history. The highest team total in T20s remains Nepal's 314 against mongolia in 2023.

The partnership surpassed the previous record of 258 runs set by Japanese players L Yamamoto-Lake and K Kadowaki-Fleming against China. Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai and Usman ghani are in third place on the list. Additionally, Badoni's remarkable 165-run innings off 55 balls broke Shreyas Iyer’s record for the highest individual score by an indian batter in T20s. Iyer had scored 147 runs for mumbai against sikkim in the syed mushtaq ali Trophy on february 21, 2019.
