Vinesh Phogat Responds to Brij bhushan Singh’s 'God Punished You' Remarks

Wrestler and congress leader Vinesh Phogat has addressed former Wrestling Federation of india (WFI) chief and bjp leader Brij bhushan Singh’s recent comments regarding her disqualification from the paris Olympics. Singh had suggested that Phogat’s failure was a form of divine retribution for alleged cheating.

Phogat criticized Singh’s remarks, saying they reflect his mentality. Speaking at a gathering in Khera Bakhta, Phogat expressed gratitude for the widespread support she’s received. She emphasized her determination to use this backing to win her battles, particularly as she campaigns for the upcoming assembly elections.

“I’m receiving such a warm welcome everywhere,” Phogat stated. “I’m grateful to god for the love and respect, and I hope to alleviate any suffering with my efforts. Jind’s historical significance and the bravery of its people are truly inspiring.”

Phogat also acknowledged the support of the congress party and its leaders, rahul gandhi and priyanka Gandhi, during the wrestlers’ protest. She highlighted the encouragement they provided and their presence during a difficult period, which reinforced her resolve to confront these challenges through wrestling.

In contrast, Brij bhushan Singh, who faces allegations of sexual harassment from wrestlers, accused Phogat of dishonesty in her attempts to compete, claiming that her failure was punishment from God. Singh also criticized fellow wrestler Bajrang Punia and alleged that political conspiracies were behind the wrestling federation’s issues.

The bjp has advised Singh to refrain from making further comments about Phogat and Punia. Meanwhile, Phogat and Punia, who recently joined congress and resigned from their railway jobs, are preparing for the upcoming haryana assembly elections. The polling will take place on october 5, with results expected on october 8.
