Did the change in ICC rules put a load on the players?
Three formats are played in the current international cricket, which include Test, ODI and T20. cricket has changed a lot with changing times. Earlier only Test and ODI cricket were played. Then in the 21st century T20 was added to international cricket. Meanwhile, we will tell you why earlier Test matches used to be of 6 days? Currently, Test matches are of 5 days.
If we look at the statistics, it is known that in the early days of cricket, there was no limit to Test cricket. In 1939, the Test match between england and south africa was played in 10 days. Apart from this, many such Test matches are also seen in the statistics, which were played in 7 or 8 or 9 days.
With increasing time, Test matches started being played for 6 days and it became quite common. In a 6-day Test match, one day was kept as a rest day, which is not seen nowadays.
Did the end of rest day put a load on the players?
In view of the increasing popularity of ODI cricket, it was decided to make Test cricket a five-day affair and the rest day was removed. The removal of the rest day obviously put more load on the players. While earlier players used to take a day's rest in between the game, now they have to play for five consecutive days. Playing continuously also increases the risk of players getting injured.
