Rohit Sharma Discusses His Decision to Retire from T20Is

After leading india to victory in the t20 world cup 2024 on june 29, rohit sharma announced his retirement from t20 Internationals. Over his 17-year career, he accumulated 4,231 runs in 159 matches, including five centuries and a remarkable 205 sixes, making him the most capped player in T20I history.

In a recent interview, Rohit shared his thoughts on retiring from the format, explaining that he felt it was the right moment to step aside for younger talent. "I’ve had my time and enjoyed playing T20s. Winning the world cup was the perfect way to conclude my T20I journey. It's time to focus on other priorities, and there are many capable players ready to take on the challenge for india," he stated.

He emphasized that his decision wasn’t driven by any physical limitations and confirmed he has no plans to retire from Test and ODI formats soon. "I believe I can still perform in all three formats. Fitness is largely a mental game; it’s about training your mind. I have a strong belief in my capabilities and know I can manage my mindset effectively," Rohit added.

Currently, he is leading the indian team in a two-match Test series against Bangladesh, with the second match underway at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.
