Ravindra Jadeja Responds to Early Critics After Reaching 300 Test Wickets

Veteran indian all-rounder ravindra jadeja celebrated a significant milestone on Monday, achieving 300 wickets in Test cricket during the fourth day of the second Test against bangladesh in Kanpur. This achievement makes him the seventh indian bowler to reach this landmark, joining the ranks of legends like Anil Kumble, R. Ashwin, and Kapil Dev.

After the match, Jadeja expressed his pride in reaching this milestone, stating, “It’s special when you achieve something for India. I’ve been playing Tests for 10 years and I’m happy to finally reach this point.”

Jadeja took the opportunity to respond to past critics who had labeled him primarily as a limited-overs player. He was determined to prove them wrong and emphasized the hard work he put into honing his skills with the red ball. “As a youngster, people said I was just a white-ball cricketer. But I worked hard with the red ball, and now all that effort has paid off,” he remarked.

In addition to his 300 wickets, Jadeja also achieved a rare feat by becoming the second-fastest player to reach both 300 Test wickets and 3,000 runs, with England’s Ian Botham holding the record.

Looking ahead to the ongoing match, Jadeja expressed hope that the indian team could quickly secure the remaining eight wickets and chase down any target set by bangladesh to maintain their lead in the World Test championship standings.
