As soon as the Board of Control for cricket in india (BCCI) released the retention policy for IPL 2025, the excitement of cricket lovers towards the mega auction has doubled. Each team will be allowed to retain 6 players, so all eyes will be on the 5-time champion team mumbai Indians. So let's know what equations are being formed, due to which MI may not be able to retain Suryakumar Yadav, jasprit bumrah and hardik pandya together.

Suryakumar Yadav is the captain of India's t20 team, while jasprit bumrah and hardik pandya also come in the list of top players. Having them in one team is like a dream come true for any franchise. But if we look at the retention policy of the mega auction, the salary category has been prepared in such a way that retaining 3-4 players of A-level category can empty the purse of any team.

There will be a problem on salary

If we look at the retention policy, a team can retain 2 players for 18 crores, 2 players for 14 crores and one player for 11 crores before the auction. Suryakumar, jasprit bumrah and hardik pandya, all three seem to be such players who are entitled to get a salary of 18 crores. Apart from them, even though rohit sharma was removed from the captaincy last season, Rohit is also fully entitled to the slot with 18 crore salary.

The retention policy says that only 2 players can be retained for 18 crores. In simple words, due to the salary slot created by bcci for the retained players, it seems almost impossible for MI to retain Surya, hardik and bumrah together. If a franchise retains 5 capped players and one uncapped player, then its purse will be emptied by Rs 79 crore due to only 6 players. In such a situation, the team management will have only Rs 41 crore left to prepare the rest of the team.
