India's badminton star pv sindhu and young player Lakshya Sen took indian badminton to new heights with their stellar performance at the Syed Modi international 2024. While sindhu defeated China's Wu Luo Yu to win the title for the third time, Lakshya Sen defeated Singapore's Jia Heng Jason Teh to win the men's singles title.

Sindu ends title drought

In the women's singles final played on Sunday, 1 december 2024, pv sindhu displayed a strong game and won 21-14, 21-16 in straight games. This title was very special for sindhu as she won a tournament after a long wait of 2 years, 4 months and 18 days. Earlier, she had also won this title in 2017 and 2022. After the match, pv sindhu expressed her happiness on social media and wrote, "2 years, 4 months and 18 days. My team, my pride." sindhu expressed her gratitude to her team and fans and called this victory an important milestone in her career.

pv sindhu played aggressively from the beginning of the final. She took an 8-5 lead in the first game and was ahead 11-9 till the break. After this, sindhu put pressure on Wu Luo Yu and won the first game 21-14. In the second game, the Chinese player tried to make a comeback and equalized the score to 10-10, but pv sindhu showed patience and experience and took advantage of Wu's mistakes and won the second game and the title 21-16.

Lakshya Sen's spectacular victory

In the final of the men's singles category, India's Lakshya Sen won the title by defeating Singapore's Jia Heng Jason Teh 21-6, 21-7 in straight games. Sen showed great control throughout the match and did not give any chance to his opponent. In the first game, Sen took an 8-0 lead and took advantage of Jason Teh's continuous mistakes to win the game 21-6. In the second game too, Sen took a 10-1 lead till the break and eventually won 21-7.
