FIDE Chess: Five Indians including Praggnanandhaa, Erigasi will participate in FIDE's top competition, know about it

The event will begin with the Rapid championship from december 26 to 28, followed by a day's rest on december 29. The Blitz championship matches will be played on december 30 and 31.



The international Chess Federation (FIDE) said on Monday that five players from India, including R Praggnanandhaa, arjun Erigasi, and R Vaishali, will challenge in the upcoming 2024 FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Championship. The prestigious tournament will be held in New York City from december 26-31. This is the first time the tournament is being held in North America.


Koneru Humpy and Dronavalli harika will also present the indian challenge in this. FIDE termed it the strongest season so far and said that the best players in the world will participate in it. The apex chess body wrote on 'X' that World No. 3 American Grand master Hikaru Nakamura has also confirmed his participation in the tournament.


FIDE said, "More than 300 of the world's best players will compete in New York City from december 26 to 31 for a prize money of $1.5 million." Apart from India's top players, some of the big names from around the world include five-time world champion Magnus Carlsen, Fabiano Caruana, Wesley So, and Levon Aronian.
