Online cricket betting racket busted in Delhi!

The Special Task Force (STF) of Shahdara district of delhi has busted a big cricket betting racket and arrested the main bookie. This accused was betting crores on the ongoing ODI international match between india and New Zealand. police have also seized laptops, mobile phones, LED TVs and other electronic gadgets from the accused. The accused has been involved in many serious crimes in the past.

DCP Shahdara said that Shahdara STF had received information that a person named shahid was operating cricket betting from a rented house in Ahimsa Vatika, ram nagar, Loni Road, Shahdara. After the information, a special team was formed under the leadership of SI ajay Tomar and a raid was conducted at the said address. Here the accused shahid was arrested red-handed while betting.

Was betting during live match

Investigation revealed that shahid was betting through his mobile phone and laptop. During interrogation, he confessed that he is the main kingpin of this illegal business and used to contact his customers through internet calling. According to the DCP, shahid was placing bets through special software and mobile apps. He used to update the betting rate on every ball of the live match and send it to the customers. The betting included the winner of the toss, number of runs, over rate, wickets and the result of the match.

After investigating the mobile phone and laptop recovered from the spot, the police registered a case against the accused shahid under section 3/4/5 delhi Public Gambling Act 1955. Along with this, the police recovered a laptop, an LED tv (with 2 remotes), two mobile phones (with SIM), a dongle, a laptop charger and two mobile chargers and an electricity board from the accused.

The accused has been involved in many crimes before

According to delhi police, the accused has been identified as shahid (36 years), resident of Takia Gullu Shah, Shriram nagar Delhi. The accused has previously been involved in cases like theft, Arms Act, robbery, snatching and murder. At present, the police has now started looking for other people associated with this racket.
