17-year-old Payal Nag... When the world's first archer without arms and legs, after fixing the bow in an artificial leg, pulls the arrow from the right shoulder and aims, people are surprised to see her talent and courage. Payal has become the national para archery champion by defeating Sheeta Devi, an archer without arms. Not only this, she surprised everyone by securing the 8th position in the national ranking tournament among normal archers in Puri, Odisha.
Becoming an example of courage, the journey was not so easy for Payal. At the age of just seven, such a storm came into her life that darkness prevailed everywhere. Originally from Balangir in Odisha, Payal's father was a mason in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. While playing on the second floor of the building where he was working, Payal came in contact with live electric wires. The doctors saved her, but she had to lose both her hands and legs. When the DM of Balangir came to know about it, he sent her to the orphanage there. Sheetal's dreams took flight. kuldeep Vedwan, Sheetal's coach at the Mata vaishno devi Shrine Board Archery Academy, saw her photo on social media in May 2023. He brought her from Balangir to Katra. He made her an archer by getting two special equipment made.
Payal says that Coach kuldeep and the Shrine Board not only gave her a new life but also changed the meaning of life. Now she has only one dream, to win gold for the country in the Paralympics. Kuldeep says, the orphanage operators had refused to send Payal, who belongs to a very poor family, to Katra. Then he took the help of DM Chanchal Rana. It was explained to the operators that they wanted to make him an archer, then they got permission.
