During the indian Premier League (IPL), a senior judicial officer's expensive apple iphone 14 was stolen during a match at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. The incident took place outside the stadium located in Churchgate area, when the officer went to watch the match.

After the theft, the officer lodged an online complaint with the mumbai police, after which the Marine Drive police registered an FIR against an unknown person.

Bought iphone 14 for personal use

According to information received from mumbai police sources, the complainant is a Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) posted in a mumbai court. In 2023, the magistrate bought a blue apple iphone 14 for personal use.

This theft incident took place on april 17, 2025 during a thrilling IPL match between mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad. At around 7:15 pm, the magistrate, along with his wife, son and other family members, reached Gate No. 14 of the Wankhede Stadium to watch the match. At this time, an unknown person allegedly stole the magistrate's iphone from his pant pocket.

Further investigation is underway in the case

Soon after realising that the phone was missing, the magistrate searched the area but could not find the device. Suspecting theft, he concluded that an unknown person had deliberately stolen the phone with the intention of cheating. The magistrate then lodged an e-complaint on the online portal of mumbai Police. Based on the complaint, the Marine Drive police registered an FIR against the unknown person under Section 303(2) of the indian Penal Code (BNS). Further investigation into the case is underway.
