Aaron Paul, who plays Walter White on Breaking Bad, admits that he was originally envious of Better Call Saul during its first season because of the cast's strong family ties. Paul played Jesse Pinkman, a crystal meth maker and dealer persuaded by his former high school chemistry instructor Walter White to build a huge drug enterprise in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in Vince Gilligan's original crime thriller. Paul's character was supposed to be killed off following the events of season 1, but after garnering positive feedback from both Gilligan and critics, he was kept on for the rest of the series, earning him three Primetime Emmy nominations.

Better Call Saul, a prequel series centred on Bob Odenkirk's titular character, will rejoin with Breaking Bad vet Peter Gould to explore his roots as a former scam artist seeking to become an honest lawyer, only to progressively return to a life of crime. Better Call Saul has been critically lauded for six seasons and has received 40 Emmy and four Golden Globe nominations, but not winning any of them. Fans may expect to see more recognisable figures return to the fold as the Breaking Bad prequel enters its final chapter.
