The world-building opening titles for house of the Dragon made their premiere and once again included the well-known theme song from Game of Thrones. While the opening credits and music were missing from the prequel series' premiere, a story-specific intro that continued to hint at future tensions was unveiled in episode 2. Additionally, because the opening titles for each episode of Game of Thrones changed, it is likely that the credits for house of the Dragon will change whenever a new Targaryen is born or marries.

The locales of Westeros and Essos were shown in the Game of Thrones title sequence, which changed for each episode depending on where the action would occur. The opening titles of house of the Dragon will be comparatively more static because the main changes won't happen until Rhaenyra, Daemon, and Alicent's offspring are born. The amount of blood gushing from house of the Dragon is probably going to rise as the dance of the Dragons gets underway, much as how the tiles in Game of Thrones season 8's opening titles changed in the early episodes to reflect how far the White Walkers had advanced into the North.

The family tree and history of house Targaryen are shown in the opening credits of house of the Dragon, with the many streams of blood representing the unions and offspring of those who have sat on the iron Throne or will do so in the future. Additionally, there are pictures of significant Targaryen events on the walls, and symbols designating Targaryens may be seen on the rotating gears. The opening titles of house of the Dragon are divided by Targaryen bloodlines as they pertain to the iron Throne, in contrast to the opening credits sequence of Game of Thrones, which was divided by location.
