We may state unequivocally that megastar Chiranjeevi's "Acharya" is a terrible movie but Kamal Haasan's "Vikram" is an epic smash in terms of the money it brought in at the box office. So why did acharya perform better than Vikram? Well, at least that's how tv works.

Recently, on the eve of Diwali, lokesh Kanagaraj's blockbuster film vikram starring kamal haasan was shown on television. The TRP for the movie was a meagre 4.42, which surprised the analysts. To everyone's amazement, Vijay's Beast received a TRP of 12.62 on the same day. Recently, Megastar's acharya received 6.3 TRPs when it was streamed for the first time on TV. And these figures reveal a lot about the popularity of these films.

The majority of the audience saw Kamal's vikram on the big screen as well as on Disney+Hotstar in high definition. Due to this, despite being webcast on a holiday—Diwali—the movie received zero attention. Both Vijay's Beast and Chiru's acharya are failures at the box office, but they both have higher TRPs because viewers are more curious about what's wrong with them. They have waited for television previews of these movies rather than wasting their money on tickets. While acharya is a borefest, Vijay's Beast is at least a stylish action movie that may be enjoyed for a while. This also explains why Vijay's film received such high TRPs.
