Following the OTT boom of the COVID era, amazon Prime Video has taken the lead in acquiring telugu movies for its streaming service. Due to Prime Video's generous offers, producers gained a lot of money by selling even their subpar movies to the service. Examples include V, Tuck Jagadish, and Naarapa.

After Covid, however, it appears that amazon has given up on tollywood and that Netflix is the one placing a big stake on tollywood movies. Recent movies that Netflix has acquired include Rangaa Ranga Vaibhvanga, Krishnaa Vrinda Vihari, Virata Paarvam, Ante Sundaraaniki, GodFather, Paakka commercial, F3, Major, Urvasivo Rakshasivo, and Atithi Devo Bhavaa. Dhamakaa, this week's premiere, has chosen Netflix as its exclusive OTT provider.

There haven't been many telugu movies picked up by Prime recently, with the exception of Yashoda and Ginna. It appears that amazon lost a lot of money by hastily purchasing wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital rights to movies that weren't worth the exorbitant pricing. They are now investing in producing original telugu dramas and series for their platform.
