It will surprise you if you too use PhonePe to recharge your phone. PhonePe, an online payment software, has become the first in the country to charge fees for UPI-based transactions. 


PhonePe, a wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital payment service, has begun charging transaction processing costs for recharges over Rs 50, which will also apply to UPI recharges. 


Determine the amount of the fee that must be paid. According to the firm, it does not charge anything for mobile recharges under Rs 50.PhonePe subscribers would be charged Rs 1 for mobile recharges between Rs 50 and Rs 100, and Rs 2 for mobile recharges above Rs 100. 


"On Recharge, we're undertaking a small-scale trial where some consumers are paying for cellphone recharge," PhonePe added. On recharges of less than Rs.50, there is no fee. 


If you recharge between Rs 50 and Rs 100, you'll be charged Rs 1, and if you recharge moreover Rs 100, you'll be charged Rs 2. In essence, most customers are either not paying anything or paying Re 1 as part of the trial."The fee will only be charged if you pay with a credit card. 


We are not the only player or payment platform that collects fees, according to a PhonePe spokeswoman. Charging a small fee for bill payment has become common industry practice, and other biller websites and payment systems are following suit. 


Only credit card payments are subject to a processing fee (also known as a service fee on other platforms).
