History: From 1G to 5G?...What every 'G' means?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the country's first 5g testbed on May 17 this month. PM Modi has also set a target in front of the country that by the end of this decade, we will also work towards developing 6G technology in the country. From 1G to 5g, the Internet has made people's lives easier and has accelerated technological expansion. Let's understand what every 'G' means for the internet.

From 1G to 2G: The emphasis was on voice calling

Most 1G was introduced in japan in the 1970s. With the help of the first generation technology, only voice calling could be done. The sound quality was poor, the coverage area was very less and there was no roaming facility. After the arrival of 2G in the year 1991, the world of Internet gained momentum. In the second generation, these analog signals were completely converted to wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital format.

3G made a big bang

When 3G internet was introduced in the year 2001, the internet became very easy. It was claimed that 3G will get four times more speed than 2G. Due to the speed and accessibility of the Internet, the facility of email, video calling, navigation maps, web browsing and listening to music on mobile phones started to be available.

4G speed showed the world a new way

After the advent of 4G around the year 2010, the internet started becoming easier for everyone. High speed, high quality as well as good voice calling and data services became manifold better. Its speed is five to seven times more than 3G. The internet we use nowadays is mostly 4G. With the speed of the internet, it has become common for people to watch live videos, book taxis, order food and do video calling.

What will you get in 5G?

The latency in 4G is 50 milliseconds, while in 5g the latency is only 1 millisecond. Latency refers to the time taken by the data to travel from one point to another. With the help of 5g technology, the power requirement in the devices will definitely be reduced. This will increase the life of both the device and the battery manifold.

5G will not only increase the downloading speed but will also have many other benefits. With the increase in cellular bandwidth, faster speeds and lower latency, the Internet world will get faster speeds.
