CrowdStrike and the biggest system outage caused by it...?

Computer and internet-related outages are rare in the world. They are often caused by errors in the central source, such as a cloud service or server farm, on which users depend. Sometimes, damage to cables or other physical equipment causes systems to go down. But the outage that happened on Friday, July 19, was unique, as it crashed millions of computers around the world and is proving to be very difficult and time-consuming to resolve.

This outage started with a bad code sent directly to the computer by cybersecurity company CrowdStrike, after which people from every corner of the world started complaining and it was on such a large scale that it caused a sensation all over the world. CrowdStrike is used by more than half of the Fortune 500 companies, and all of them are struggling to find a solution to this problem.

Understand what the matter was?

On Friday, as people turned on their computers, they began to see a blue screen, also known as a "blue screen of death" (BSOD). This is a common problem that occurs when a computer has a hardware or software error. For example, if the machine overheats, there is a memory problemor there is a problem after installing some hardware, then this screen appears. People and companies immediately posted this on social media and as soon as Microsoft came to know about it, they started investigating. Soon it was found that this was the result of an update made by CrowdStrike regarding its Falcon product.

Falcon is a platform developed by CrowdStrike company which is designed to prevent threats like cyber breaches by using cloud technology. This software has deep access to the internal parts of a computer's operating system and booting process to scan for security threats. The new update had some bugs due to which the software was not able to interact properly with the Windows operating system, and because of this it was showing the BSOD screen, and even after rebooting, users were seeing the same screen. Due to the bad code, the affected machines entered an infinite reboot loop, due to which they went offline.
