The company has introduced a speedometer and speed limit display on iphone and CarPlayer globally to enhance the google Maps application on iOS devices. This feature was already introduced in Android devices in 2019. The feature was launched in select markets in May 2019 and later expanded to more than 40 countries.
Google has confirmed that iphone and CarPlay users can use the speedometer and speed limit indicators. google has taken this decision after 5 years of its introduction on Android devices. A feature like this has been introduced to help avoid over-speeding while driving.

The report also talks about google Maps with new speeding features in india last year. When asked about this update, google has confirmed that it will be rolled out globally. You can find this new feature in google Maps on iOS devices with version 6.123.0.
iPhone and CarPlay users need to open the google Maps application on their iPhones to use this feature. After that click on the profile picture and go to the settings option. Then select the 'Navigation and Driving' option and click on the speedometer or speed limit sticker.

When it is enabled the Speed Limit feature will be displayed as a circular icon in the lower left corner of the navigation while driving. When iphone users start navigation in the google Maps application, the vehicle's speed will be displayed in miles or kilometers depending on the location.
Including real-time speed data while driving, the speed indicator will change colors and display if you speed up. You can also check if this speed limit feature is available in your location by visiting the google support page. The feature also provides a shortcut to turn the speedometer on or off. The google support page also mentions that this speedometer is for informational purposes only.

So car drivers have to rely on their vehicle's speedometer to find out their original driving speed. Apart from this, the company confirmed that work is underway to improve the group travel feature in google Maps. Through this feature, different users in different locations can reach the same place at a specific time by using this navigation service.
