Zoom meeting app will not be used for government work…?


An important order has been issued by the rajasthan government for all government officials and employees. According to this order, now the Zoom meeting app cannot be used for any government work. A circular has also been released by the government for this.

It is written in the notification issued by the government, 'It has been observed that the Zoom app is being used for meetings in government offices. Necessary guidelines have been issued by the Cyber Center of the Union home Ministry of the government of india regarding this app. According to this, in view of cyber security, it would be unsafe to use the Zoom meeting app for government work. Therefore, it is being informed that 'Zoom Meeting App' should not be used for government work.'


The security agency had expressed the danger of data theft

The circular further reads, 'It is approved by the competent level. Ensure compliance with the instructions.' For information, let us tell you that the Zoom Meeting app is a software designed for video conferencing, which is used to attend online meetings across the country. Apart from private companies, schools and colleges, it was also being used by government institutions. However, it has been declared unsafe by the government.


It was banned in the year 2020

In the year 2020 itself, the government had banned the use of video conferencing app Zoom for meetings. Security agencies, finding many deficiencies in the investigation, had expressed apprehension that data could be stolen through this app, as it was not end-to-end encrypted. At the same time, it was also admitted by Zoom itself that there are some flaws in the app regarding security, on which work is going on. However, shortly after this, the company claimed that the issue was resolved.
