Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition might feature S Pen support.

The samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is anticipated to launch soon in select markets as a slimmer alternative to the recently released Galaxy Z Fold 6. Initial leaks suggested that the device would not support the S Pen stylus, unlike the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which does, though the stylus is sold separately. However, new information suggests those early reports may have been inaccurate.

According to smartphone leak expert Ice Universe on X, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will indeed support the S Pen stylus. However, it is unlikely that the device will include a built-in slot or holder for the S Pen, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which supports the stylus sold separately.

Another well-known source, DSCC's CEO Ross Young, added that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition may not feature a digitizer—a component that enables advanced stylus functionality—due to concerns over thickness and cost. This means samsung may need to explore alternative methods to enable S Pen support on the device.

Without a digitizer, the S Pen may lack some of its more advanced features and could function as a basic passive stylus that works with any capacitive touchscreen. However, given the premium nature of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, it is unlikely that samsung would opt for such a basic solution.

The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition was initially rumored to debut in October, but more recent reports suggest a possible launch as early as September. The foldable device is expected to feature larger displays and a 200MP primary camera, while being significantly thinner—around 10mm when folded—compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6's 12.1mm thickness. However, availability may be limited to china and South Korea, potentially restricting its global reach.
