Hitachi Unveils India’s First Android-Based ATM

Hitachi Payment services has launched India’s first Android-based Cash Recycling Machine (CRM) ATM, in collaboration with the National Payments Corporation of india (NPCI). The groundbreaking ATM, introduced at the Global Fintech festival 2024, functions not only as a traditional ATM but also as a comprehensive banking branch.

The Android-based CRM features a range of services including home loans, credit cards, and fixed deposits. It is designed to operate as a wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital banking unit, offering various banking and non-banking services in a self-service mode. customers can use the ATM for QR-based UPI cash withdrawals and deposits, account openings, credit card issuances, personal loans, insurance services, MSME loans, and FASTag applications and recharges.

This new ATM also introduces the QR-based UPI cash deposit feature in india, enabling 24/7 cashless deposits into bank accounts. The Android-based CRM aims to enhance accessibility to banking services, especially in remote areas, and improve security by eliminating the need for physical cards for cash withdrawals.

Sumil Vikamsey, Managing director & CEO of Hitachi Payment services, highlighted the significant impact of this innovation on wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital banking and expanded access across India. NPCI emphasized the benefits of integrating a wide array of banking services into a single platform, which is expected to boost wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital banking adoption and the growth of ATM channels nationwide.

According to Mint, Hitachi currently manages over 76,000 of the 264,000 ATMs and CRMs in operation across India.
