If you receive these messages on your mobile, delete immediately!
Scammers are adopting new methods for data theft and financial fraud. Now the American agency FBI has issued a warning about a new type of scam. In this type of scam, a fake message comes to the mobile users. In this, a lie is told like a fine will be imposed for not paying toll tax. After this, mobile users are asked to pay the fine immediately. The link given in the message opens a spam page, from where it becomes easy for scammers to steal user information. This type of scam is being called Smishing (SMS+Phishing) scam.
Fake domains are being used
Earlier these scams started by sending fake messages in the name of toll tax only and now scammers are trying to cheat people in the name of delivery service etc. as well. According to reports, scammers have registered 10,000 fake domains for this. These domains that look like real ones are the tricks of scammers and people reach here as soon as they click on the link given in the message. In the message, people are asked to pay the fine immediately to avoid penalty. If someone accidentally clicks on this link, then information about bank and credit card etc. is sought from him. All this information reaches the scammers, which makes it easy for them to steal data as well as cheat of money.
How to avoid such scams?
The FBI says that some cases of Smishing have come up in some areas of the US and Canada. The agency has advised to delete any such message immediately to avoid such scams. Let us tell you that caution is necessary to avoid cases of cyber fraud and people are advised not to click on any link received from any unknown or suspicious person.
