The people of hyderabad enthusiastically celebrated the festival of Dussehra. Due to Covid, people who have been away from festivals and festivities for years have come to their hometowns to enjoy Dussehra. This led to a huge sale of chicken, mutton and liquor in the city. With liquor sales of Rs 222.23 crore in a single day in hyderabad, one can understand the demand. Liquor sales of Rs 75 crore were recorded on Tuesday, wednesday and thursday alone. Excise officials said 7.78 lakh cases of liquor and another 2.36 lakh cases of beer were sold in hyderabad, Rangareddy and medchal districts.
The Greater Range typically sells 10 lakh kg of chicken per day. However, wholesalers say that about 50 lakh kg of chicken was sold on thursday and friday combined. Sales figures show that greater people prefer chicken to mutton during Dussehra. Mutton price is Rs. 750– 800.
The price of chicken is between Rs.200-250 and people are passionate about chicken. Officials estimate that the city has sold 10-15 lakh kg of mutton in the last three days.
In september of this year, a total of 24 lakh beer boxes were sold, up from 21 lakh the preceding month. In september of this year, the ap State received a total of Rs 2,267 crore from alcohol sales.
