The tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation Limited (Tasmac) has installed an autonomous liquor vending machine at an Elite store within a chennai mall. Liquor buyers can select their desired liquor before making payment and receive the bottle from the gadget from a menu that appears immediately upon contact with the device. This will reduce the continuous complaints of people for charging more money at the counters. Through this machine, liquor will be sold on MRP only.


According to the information, this is being done only as a pilot project because the administration has not decided how it will be implemented in other places. The administration has not even told whether liquor vending machines like this will be opened or not. politics has also become hot regarding this vending machine installed to buy liquor. Opposition parties claim that vending machines will make it easier for underage children to buy alcohol, due to which opposition parties are criticizing it. According to the state administration, salespersons will be deployed at the vending machines to prevent children from using them.


Regarding this liquor vending machine, tamil Nadu minister Balaji has claimed that this machine remains open till 10 pm and an employee is present to look after it, which is also helpful in preventing children from consuming alcohol. He has also told that this machine has been installed by a private sector company.
