What is Stockholm syndrome?

Stockholm syndrome is such a medical condition in which a person starts sympathizing and loving the person who kidnaps him, hurts him, holds him hostage or dominates him. You must also be surprised that how can one fall in love and affection with the person who is kidnapping. But this is true, in fact in this mental state the person gets emotionally attached to his kidnapper, so much so that he starts loving him and wants to stay with him. If seen, this medical condition can apply to both the kidnapper and the kidnapped person. Sometimes the kidnapper gets attached to the captive and sometimes the captive gets attached to the kidnapper. This happens when the kidnapper keeps the captive alive and takes proper care of him instead of killing or harassing him.

Let us tell you that this syndrome was named by Swedish psychologist Nils Bejerot. Medical experts say that when someone is kidnapped for a long time, then positive emotions start developing between the kidnapper and the kidnapped person while living together. If the kidnapped person is already suffering from PTSD, anxiety, and depression, then this syndrome dominates rapidly. The kidnapped person feels that the person who kidnapped him is keeping him alive and taking care of him. If seen, this is a psychological reaction born out of loneliness which affects both.
