Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Unveils Vande Bharat Sleeper Prototype

Indian Railways is set to enhance passenger comfort and train speeds with the introduction of the Vande Bharat sleeper train prototype. Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently showcased this new model, which aims to surpass the comfort and efficiency of premium trains like the Rajdhani Express and tejas Express.

The Vande Bharat sleeper train, manufactured by BEML, is part of a broader initiative by indian Railways to modernize its fleet. Vaishnaw highlighted that the railway network is developing four new types of trains: the Vande Bharat chair car, Vande Bharat sleeper car, Vande Metro, and Amrit Bharat trains. "These projects represent the transformative vision for india under prime minister Narendra Modi's leadership," he stated.

The Vande Bharat sleeper is designed to offer superior travel comfort and faster speeds compared to the Rajdhani Express. It boasts enhanced acceleration and deceleration capabilities, with an expected operational speed of 160 kmph and a testing speed of up to 180 kmph. This advanced sleeper variant aims to deliver a more seamless long-distance travel experience.

The train will feature multiple types of coaches, including 4 AC 2-tier coaches with 188 berths, 11 AC 3-tier coaches with 611 berths, and 1 AC First Class Coach with 24 berths.

In terms of amenities, the Vande Bharat sleeper train incorporates world-class features such as Glass Fibre Reinforced Plastic (GFRP) panels, a sensor-based interior, automatic exterior passenger doors, an ergonomically designed, odour-free toilet system, communication doors, and a spacious luggage area, among others.
