Ganesh Chaturthi Laddus Auctioned in Hyderabad's Hanuman Nagar

Hanuman Nagar’s Patabasti Colony in hyderabad is renowned for its Ganesh Puja festivities, celebrated with fervor for over 50 years. The centerpiece of the celebration is the auctioning of laddus, which has become a significant tradition. Locals believe that those who win the auction experience prosperity in their lives.

According to reports, last year, a single laddu was auctioned for approximately Rs 36 lakh. In an interview with local 18, members of the Ganesh Puja Committee highlighted that the Sobha Jatra, or procession, is another key highlight of the celebration, often graced by notable figures.

The puja pandal draws thousands of devotees each year, and the laddu auction during ganesh chaturthi is renowned for surpassing even prestigious laddu auctions. Many high-ranking officials, including ministers and MLAs, participate in the rituals, with the first pooja often performed by them.

A local remarked on the auction’s significance, stating, “Those who have won the auction have seen tremendous success. The laddu auction began with a modest Rs 1,000 around 50 years ago and last year, it reached Rs 36 lakh, outdoing even the famous Balapur Laddu auction. We anticipate a higher amount this year.” The laddu auction is scheduled to take place on the day of the Sobha Jatra, following the completion of the pooja at 7:00 am.

The celebration will feature a vibrant procession with cultural performances, including singing, folk dances, and Kolatam, a traditional dance form. The visarjan ceremony is expected to occur on september 17, along with the laddu auction, as per local traditions.

The Times of india reported that last year’s Ganesh Laddu auction in the sun City area of bandlaguda jagir, hyderabad, fetched an impressive Rs 1.25 crore.
