Bengaluru Techie Arrested for Stealing Laptops to Offset Tomato Crop Losses
A techie in Bengaluru has been arrested for stealing laptops from his workplace to cover financial losses from a failed tomato crop. Murugesh, a system administrator, reportedly cultivated tomatoes on six acres in Hosur after taking out a loan. However, when the crop failed, he faced significant debt and decided to steal laptops to repay it.

Operating under the pretense of providing laptop service and repairs, Murugesh managed to take several devices. After resigning from the company at the end of August, an audit revealed the missing laptops. A review of CCTV footage led to the discovery of Murugesh's actions.


Legal Consequences
Murugesh’s actions have now landed him in legal trouble. He was arrested on september 9 and has since been placed in judicial custody. B. Dayanand, the Bengaluru City police commissioner, confirmed the details of the case, highlighting the serious nature of Murugesh’s crimes.

Following a complaint, police traced him to his hometown in Hosur, tamil Nadu, where they recovered the stolen laptops. In total, Murugesh had stolen 57 laptops, selling 45 to a repair shop. Bengaluru City police commissioner B. Dayanand confirmed that they recovered 50 laptops valued at 22 lakh rupees. Murugesh, who completed his BCA, was arrested on september 9 and has been placed in judicial custody.
