A low-pressure system is predicted to develop in the southeast Bay of bengal on monday, december 16, prompting the indian Meteorological Department to issue an orange signal for extremely heavy rain in four districts of tamil Nadu on Tuesday.
According to the Meteorological Department, it is expected to intensify into a low-pressure system on monday and proceed in a west-northwesterly trajectory towards tamil Nadu during the course of the following two days because of the current atmospheric circulation in the South andaman Sea.Consequently, monday is expected to see further moderate rain across tamil Nadu and Puducherry. In the districts of Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, and Cuddalore, an orange alert has been issued due to extremely heavy rain on Tuesday.
The districts of Thanjavur, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Pudukkottai, Tiruchirappalli, Kallakurichi, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, and puducherry have also received heavy rain warnings from the Meteorological Department.Very heavy rain is predicted for Cuddalore, Villupuram, and puducherry the day after tomorrow. Isolated areas of Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Ranipet, Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu districts, and Karaikal are also likely to experience heavy rain.
According to the Meteorological Department, Chennai's sky will be overcast, with a few spots maybe seeing some light rain.It has also advised fishermen not to venture into the coastal areas of southern tamil Nadu, the gulf of Mannar, and the Kumarikadal areas, as gusts of wind up to 55 kilometres per hour are expected.
