Nitin has shared a video of Zerodha on his official X account. Through this, it is told how scammers target people and how to protect yourself from them.
This is how scammers are laying traps
In the caption of his post, Nitin has written, "Imagine a stranger comes to you and asks you for your phone to make an emergency call. Most kind-hearted people will give their phone, but this is a new scam. Nitin further writes, "Scammers can cause serious damage to you by taking OTP from your phone and emptying your bank account, which you will not even know about."
Need to stay away from scammers
The video shared by Nitin Kamath shows how a scammer can download an app while pretending to use the phone, open an app to extract your personal details or even change the settings of your phone so that the call, message coming on your number gets forwarded to his number. This can also include alerts from the bank. With this, they can access your bank account. By taking OTP, they can do unauthorized transactions from your account, can even change the password. In the video, to protect yourself from such scams, it is advised not to hand over the phone to strangers and if someone asks you for the phone when needed, then ask them to keep the phone on speaker while talking.
