people often forget their valuables in delhi Metro. The figures of passengers leaving their belongings while traveling in the metro during last year 2024 are surprising. During this time, passengers left cash worth more than Rs 40 lakh, 89 laptops, 193 mobile phones and nine mangalsutras in the metro itself. All the items deposited by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) were returned to their owners after verification. The Central Industrial Security Force is responsible for the security of the public transport network spread over more than 250 stations and more than 350 km of rail track in NCR.

Many items were accidentally left by the passengers near the X-ray scanner in the station. According to official figures, apart from Rs 40.74 lakh in cash, CISF personnel recovered 89 laptops, 40 watches and 193 mobile phones. The items recovered include 13 pairs of anklets, rings and bangles. CISF personnel also recovered foreign currency from the Metro premises, including US dollars, Saudi riyals and Thai baht. They have also been returned to their owners.
23 people committed suicide
The agency recorded 59 cases of suicide attempts in the delhi Metro network last year. Of these, 23 persons died, three were rescued and 33 were injured. CISF personnel also recovered 75 cartridges and seven firearms during security checks of passengers and their luggage.
262 children found travelling alone
A total of 262 children were found travelling alone and were handed over to their parents, local police or child helpline volunteers. Similarly, 671 distressed women passengers were also provided help. CISF has deployed 13,000 male and female personnel to guard the delhi Metro network. Every day, lakhs of passengers use the delhi Metro to travel between delhi and its surrounding cities like Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad.
