The central government has given a big gift to jute farmers. In the Modi cabinet meeting held at PM residence on Wednesday, approval was given to increase the MSP of jute for the 2025-26 season. Apart from this, the government has also taken a big decision regarding the National health Mission. Union minister Piyush Goyal told about the decisions taken in the meeting that the cabinet has approved the increase in the MSP of jute. For 2025-26, the MSP of raw jute has been increased by six percent to Rs 5650 per quintal, that is, now farmers will get Rs 315 more per quintal. This decision of the government will benefit jute farmers, especially farmers of Bihar, bengal and Assam. Apart from this, a decision has been taken in the Union cabinet to keep the National health Mission running for the next five years. In this mission, 12 lakh health care workers joined in 2021-22 and helped in the fight against Covid.
Farmers also got a gift on New Year
Earlier on january 1, a big decision was taken regarding farmers in the Union cabinet meeting. In this, the Modi government had given relief to the farmers in the prices of DAP. The government decided to give a 50 kg DAP fertilizer bag to the farmers for Rs 1350, that is, the government will give an additional subsidy of Rs 3850 on DAP. Apart from this, approval was given to continue the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme till 2025-26. For this, the government had given a total budget of Rs 69515.71 crore.
MSP of six Rabi crops was increased
Earlier, the central government had approved the increase in the MSP of six Rabi crops. These crops included gram, wheat, lentils, mustard, barley and sunflower seeds. While the MSP of wheat was increased by Rs 150 to Rs 2,425 per quintal, the MSP of mustard was increased by Rs 300 to Rs 5,950 per quintal.
What is MSP?
MSP i.e. Minimum Support Price is the amount at which the government purchases crops. The government buys products from farmers at this price. Even if their price in the market is less or more. The main objective of MSP is to secure the income of farmers. To ensure food security, the government buys products from farmers in large quantities.
